One Senator Jim Bunning hold up Jobless-Benefits good thing?

One Senator has stood alone on an interesting issue.  He has chosen to say no more spending on anything unless we find an offset.  He chose to hold up a $10B jobless benefit bill because it would tack more money onto the deficit.

I think its a good thing to STOP debt spending.  STOP it cold.  I for one support him in his stop of the deficit spending.  I think we can find $10B to cut someplace.  Cut it from unspent stimulus funds is where he wants it and that I guess is ok because it will eliminate MORE deficit spending although even that is a bit of a shell game as the stimulus is all debt.

I for one like I said support him in his efforts if $10B can’t be found in a budget this large…what the heck.  I can find it for them.

GET IT FROM FOREIGN AID.  We send so much money to other countries for ‘aid’ and its again debt spending that its nuts.  Take it from there.  Take care of PEOPLE HERE.  Stop charging on the national credit card for this kind of thing.

If Bunning really cared he would have worked to find a solution to this rather than waiting until basically the last minute to hold the bill hostage.

I agree that we should be working to reduce debt spending where appropriate, but this is really not the time to do that. The funding will help many families out that are currently struggling.

I like the principle of what Bunning did, but the way he did it is reprehensible. Did you see him actually talking about the fact that he missed a UK basketball game during his “filabuster”? How would you like to be someone who is losing their insurance because of a Senator, who has a government paid cadillac plan, bitch about the fact he missed a sporting event on TV so he could prevent your insurance from being extended.

  2. See its close. What he was saying wasn’t let’s not do this. What he was doing was something a little different.

They senate was trying to pass this bill by ‘unanimous consent’ what that does is let you not have floor debate over the issue. So no floor time is allotted. He was saying lets debate it. Then vote on it.

Interestingly they wanted to spend this money as debt money roughly 1 week I think after Obama signed into a law a thing called pay/go which says you have to pay for things as you go. If you add new spending you have to find less spending somewhere else.
